Interior Design III | IDS60405104469-M

PROJECT 1:
Part 1: Research Findings .....................................................................................(10% - 3 members)

For the First part of the project requires us students to do an in-depth research regarding the 6 listed Therapeutic which were namely

1. Weight management
2. Occupational
3. Native
4. Dietary/ Nutrition
5. Aesthetic
6. Cerebral

My group which consisted of only 3 members; Me, Wafaa and Clawdie has received "Dietary/ Nutrition"  as our assigned topic.

PROJECT 1.a: Site and Building Analysis / Precedence Studies...............................(10% Class Work)

The Second part of the project 1 required us students  to do a site and building analysis as well as compile findings and conduct a presentation. The entire class has been given separate task in order to obtain maximum information thus also helping to reduce each students work load. A complete set of informations regarding the site surrounding/ context as well as the existing building condition is to be crucially documented in any appropriate media as it is to be presented as a group presentation  to the board of panels.

These were the groups that we were being assigned to:

Site Visit                   Site Measurements Group
                              Site Context Studies Group
                              Swot Studies Group
Post Site Visit            Technical Drawing Production Group
                              Data & Swot Studies Group
                                     Model Making Group

Reflection:

I personally felt as tho the subject of "Dietary/ Nutrition" was a tough subject to tackle. Having said what usually comes to mind when a person mentions "curative centre"  is usually a spa; a place for pampering and relaxing. The first part of the project my group and I did not find any difficulty in delegating the task equally. We gathered a bunch of information regarding Dietary/ Nutrition; Definition of Dietary, Importance of Healthy Eating, Food culture in Malaysia and the Dietary Issues Faced. Even by understanding the current situation of how us Malaysians react to consuming healthy food there was a constant challenge of how to create a "Different Curative Centre" something that would differentiate and make our curative space stand out.

PROJECT 2.a:
The second task was for us group members to choose the therapeutic recuperation and come up with a Brand + cooperate identity. The idea is to incorporate the brand into a designed promo booth that is built within the space area of 1500 x1500.

Requirements:
                                                                       Presentation Slides, Presentation Video
                                               Scale Model of Promotional Booth

Reflection:
The idea of incorporating a brand was important to fully understand what the curative centre was to offer. I've once again teamed up with my previous group mates and decided on a brand name"Sukha" which represented a healthy eating lifestyle. The idea of the promotional kiosk was also design in a way so that the kiosk would have both a negative and positive design in which allowed customers to view the booth in all directions. The challenges I've came to realise was that alot of consideration is to be considered when creating a promotional kiosk such as making it portable and lightweight. Therefore, our designs were made lightweight and easy to store away.

FINAL PROJECT:  Curative Retreat

Reflection:
From all the time spent doing research regarding Dietary/ Nutrition for the Curative Retreat Centre, I can safely say that great thoughts have to be put into in order to create a different more appealing design, one that stands out. I suppose time management was something that I struggled with, knowing that I was indeed weak with technical softwares, it froze me. However, redoing my submission boards I did try my best. Learning to use photoshop as well as Illustrator to further enhance the images and recompose the boards were important lessons learned.

Photography : Final Project : Progression 1

Venue : Empire, Damansara

It was a very hectic day when I tried to do this photoshoot, things didn't really turned out as planned. Apparently my model was to shy to shoot photos at the venue I've intended for him to do which is      ' The Garage, KL' . We ended up driving to Empire Damansara in hopes of getting my first final few shots. However, due to the traffic congestion we arrived the venue half past 7. By this time, the sun had already set and We were left in the dimness of the street lights.

Change of Venue: The Garage, KL

Since our final assignment is approaching there were a lot of things that had been reconsidered. First of was the location of shooting. Originally I chose the Vermani house in hopes to capture my model and its setting. Sadly however, it seems as tho it might be a bit of a stretch to get an agreement for the request to shoot at the location. As my previous post has stated that the Vermani house is currently resided by a young couple and their younger daughter.

And so I've settled upon The garage,KL.

The Garage, KL

Address: Jalan Hillview,Taman Sri Ukay, 68000 Ampang, Selangor, Malaysia
Operating Hours: 9AM -2AM
Contact: +60 19-380 5277

As for the model, I've decided to ask my good friend Ummar. He will play the role of a grunge 90’s styled  rebellious teenager. The setting is set in a place where large shipment containers are stacked atop of one another thus eventually creating a new sort of teenage getaway secluded from the  hustle and bustle of the city.

Street Photography : Little India, Klang (Updated)

A lady putting together a flowered necklace. She was one of the first to be photographed as soon as we sat foot in Little India, Klang.  Assuming she was used to all these tourist taking photos, she didn't bother much or even hesitated as cameras begin clicking away.

An uncle in his bicycle store. He was on all fours when I caught him fixing what appears to be scrapes of metal, perhaps they were bicycle gears. His partner much older than he was, sat behind blending in with the background.

A pious man walking around on the streets. Dressed in bright coloured clothing, layers upon layers, I quickly snapped the photo. He appeared to be in a hurry.

These three ladies were comfortable enough to have us taken their photos as if its been done before. They simply carried about their daily routine and carried on with their playful conversations.

A man is seen staring straight into the eyes of the camera.

This man caught me stealing a photo of him. He looked tired and restless by the hot summers heat.

These kids were waiting for the bus to school. While their mother was having a chat with the locals, I flashed my camera and took photos of them. The hot heat seemed to effect this two subjects as they had wary patience waiting.

I suppose this uncle was a monk. Pious and spiritual man. He had a mini radio that he had carried in his little leather pouch bag seen hanging on his neck, spiritual music I believe. He wore bright mustered yellow clothing and walked around with a stick, lowered his gaze whenever he was approached.

A man caught my eye during the blazing heat of day. Waiting to cross the road I quickly snapped the photo.
