DETAILING AND WORKING DRAWINGS PROJECT 3

For our final task we were required to produce detailed working drawings which is related to our Interior Design Project 2 class. It is based on a given floor plan of the 3K sports centre. From there we were to produce Setting out plan,furniture layout,reflected ceiling plan,electrical plan,floor finishes plan, section drawings,water supply system and two detailed drawings.

Project 2: Individual Reflection

For this Project 2 we were given a task to produce a report about the 3K Sports Complex building located in Subang. There were also drawings to be produced. Since this was a group assignment , my team mates and I had agreed on splitting the task assignment. Wafaa and I were to handle the report , as for Oscar and Criss they would handle the manual drawings. Although we did constantly check up on each others progress and had given each other a helping hand. Me and Wafaa decided to divide our workload fairly and carried on the assignment. Most of the time, I worked mostly on the Building  Environment as well as the Building Services. However, Wafaa and me did help out each other for when we faced a problem. As for Oscar and Cris we communicated well and ask each others opinion.Overall im satisfied with my group and how we manage to handle everything accordingly. 

Task 4 :SINGAPORE VISIT OBSERVATION TASK

This task required for us to look into three type of joineries which are , bolts and nuts, welding and riverted during our visits to Singapore. Here are some of my observation and specifications.

Task 4 : Group Work (Revision 1 Remarks)

For this task we were asked to form a group of 4 and pick out a type of furniture that is free standing. Based on our recent lectures, we were to draw a complete assembly drawing including ( plan, section, elevation and detail drawings). My group mates were (Wafaa, Tia, Cherry and myself). For our group we choose a photo of the Eames Lounge Chair / Ottoman Chair .

We were also asked to give our thoughts and opinions about other group members work, vice versa. Based on the comments we received from other group members, we were asked to make amendments.

Observation Journal Task 3

For this weeks task we were asked to go explore different materials then the usual standard furnitures we had in Taylors Lakeside. We would each on our own go visit different furniture stores and produce a detailed sketch on how the product' furniture is being assembled and what the specifications are.

Each person has to have at least 3 different types of furniture made from different types of material.
A chair, A table and A cabinet. All furniture to be free standing . I went to Ikea for this task as it was a whole lot easier to measure the dimensions and obtain their product information.

Reflection :
Based on my understanding, there was a whole lot of materials being used and the endless amount of finishes . Most of them almost similar but different. Some materials I've never even heard of before. Doing these observation sketches really made me open up my eyes and realised as a designer I need to know and understand and also update myself with all of these information. After all, materials and finishes is definitely important to understand .

Observation Journal Task 2

During this week 2, we had lessons on how to write specifications for our furniture and object sketches. Specifications in design is know to be a detailed description of the design and materials being used for the object. The function, of the specification is to make task alot easier for others to read and understand.


We were given a task to complete 3 drawings as well as their specifications.

Reflection :

During this task I had faced a few difficulties in drawing the selected subject as well as adding their specification. Even tho we had learnt it in class, a lot of practices needed to be done since I wasn't to familiarize between each material.

Subject : Detailing and Working Drawings

Back at it again in Semester 3, its been a while.

For our first class assignment we were asked to do a simple sketch of a drafting table. One placed in our very own studio. Since we haven't learnt about the proper techniques and methods to sketch a perfect detailed drawing,we we're excused to do a basic sketch without measurements. As what Ms Norji had said, this was a basic practice to see how well us upcoming designers were paying attention into detail. How ordinary everyday objects  were being put together.

Reflection :

This has got to be my second round in sketching the drafting table's mechanism as I originally made a mistake. Even though I had to sketch a couple of times in order to get the mechanism right, I found it helpful, each time I start a new sketch I would look more into detail of the subject matter. Since it was just a sketch, rulers were not being used and now a days, pens are to be practiced and implemented in everyday drawings.
